Gay Purr-ee
Home/Change Series
This charming little feature was produced in 1962 by Chuck Jones and released by UPA. It includes the voice talents of Judy Garland, Robert Goulet and Red Buttons and the music was written by the same team that wrote the music to The Wizard of Oz. Chuck Jones was fired from Warner Brothers for breaking his contract to work on this film, and his wife is responsible for creating the story. I love Chuck Jones' animation - it is so crazy and a little depraved, but innocent looking too. When I was little I was obsessed with cats. My first word was "cat" and I went through a stage where I wanted to be one so I watched Gay Purr-ee a over and over. This animation has the most beautiful backgrounds and animation sequences - its almost like an animated story book. I love the character designs too.
