Sonic Comic Issue #1
Home/Change Series
I have been collecting the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comic books since I was 9 years old. This is the original artwork for an entire story from the very first Sonic the Hedgehog comic. It is titled "You Bet My Life." I ran into the guy who has this at the Motor City Comic Con, but it took me awhile to save some money to finally purchase it. I really love how Sonic is drawn in such a western cartoony style - and you can see that Princess Sally is drawn in her original pink design (before they decided to give her a tom-boyish look). Sonic is drawn in a way that is very close to anime these days and in Sonic X. And even though Sonic was created in Japan, I think Sega allows Sonic to be drawn in a style that is between anime and western animation most of the time. I love Sonic so much, that I can apperciate him drawn in many different ways. However, may favorite will always be in the SatAM look and especially how Patrick Spaziante desgined him in the first #50 issues of the comic. I had to make photocopies of these because they are so huge. I scaled them down on the copier so I could fit them onto my scanner.
